How do you get rid of search history?

How do you get rid of the search history items that pop up when performing a new search.?

  • How do you get rid of the automatic search suggestions when typing in letters, such as when you press A in the search bar and apple or apricot appears.

  • Answer:

LOL..this is a popular question. You don't have to delete your cookies or files or your offline content...or even your history, because that will NOT clear your search items. Here's the proper way to do it. Option 1. Open Internet Explorer Click tools then click Internet Options... Click the Content tab Click AutoComplete... Click Clear Forms and, if you un-check the Forms box, it will permanently stop it from keeping track of what you search for. I tried this for myself and it cleared my search history from the Y! search bar. Option 2. Click inside the Y! Search box...you should see a list come up. Put the mouse cursor over the word(s) but don't click...when the word(s) is highlighted hit the delete key under the Insert key on your keyboard. When you do this, the next word(s) will come into the first word(s) place, just keep hitting the delete key until all the search items are removed from the list. Personally, I think the 1st option is the easiest, but if you don't have very much to delete from your search list, then option 2 would be your best bet. If you meant the Y! toolbar...click the little pencil to the left of the search box...then click Clear Search History. I've done it a dozen times. It works. ~Happy Browsing~

For cleaing your Microsoft Internet Explorer search history (like you said yahoo seach history), follow these steps: 1. Go to the "Tools" menu. 2. Select "Internet Options" and the "Content" tab. 3. Within the "Personal information" area, select "AutoComplete." 4. Click on "Clear Forms." You can also un-check the "Forms" box in this window to keep this information from being stored in the future. 5. Click "OK" Done!

If you are using Yahoo toolbar, go to "pencil" option and click arrow, and hit clear history in sub-tab that opens. If you are using Goggle toolbar, click arrow-down (black) and when sub-tab opens, click clear. Both may/should be at your left of your browser-I use both. Also if you are using Google on your main search engine, you can individually clear certain ones when they come up as you type by hitting you "delete" key when they are low-lighted. Put your arrow on that choice, and also you can expand the auto-type sub-tab to show more (previously) typed searches. Also the standard delete files, temps, cookies and such. One great tool that I use is CCleaner. Just type that and it should take you to where you can download for free. It then allows you to be able to delete all types of files to your choosing.

You can use 'Free Internet Window Washer'. It allows you to erase Window's temp folders, run history, search history, open/save history, recent documents, your browser's cache, cookies, history, visited URLs, typed URLs, autocomplete memory, index.dat files, Google search history, Yahoo search history, MSN search history. It's free. You can find it at any of the following: http://www.eusing.com/Window_Washer/Window_Washer.htm http://www.freeware365.com/utilities/free-internet-window-washer.htm http://www.snapfiles.com/get/freeiww.html Click 'Wash Settings' to select all items of Internet Explore or Firefox or other browser. If you want to clear history of Google Toobar and Yahoo Toolbar, also select 'Google Toolbar' and 'Yahoo Toolbar' on 'Application' page. Then you can wash them.
