How do you delete items in the search box that you have searched before?

Click on your history, which is the little clock icon. Right click and hit delete. It works!

click on the drop down tab and then move the cursor to clear.

To clear the History in Internet Explorer on a MAC: 1. Exit Internet Explorer. 2. Open your Hard Drive. 3. Open System Folder. 4. Open Preferences folder. 5. Open Explorer. 6. Locate file history.html. 7. Drag history to trash. 8. From Special Menu, empty trash

you just type some other search a bunch of times and it will eventully get rid it.

This works if you have Internet Explorer as your browser. The record of search history which appears in the search box on Yahoo and Google pages is actually a feature controlled by your browser. Click Tools at the top of your screen,a menu will drop down,click on Internet Options, then click on the Content tab. Under Personal information, click on the AutoComplete box. On the AutoComplete Settings window click the Clear Forms box to delete your current history, or you can uncheck the Forms box to permanently stop the generation of the search history. If you just want to clear searches on Yahoo or Google Home Page or any other Yahoo or Google page,double click the search box,this will make a menu drop down with your searches,put your cursor on what you want to delete to highlight it,hit the delete button on your keyboard.If you want to delete everything just hold the delete button down until everything is deleted. To clear pages you have visited on Internet Explorer address bar,click Tools,Internet Options,under General tab click Clear History,you can also set the number of days to keep pages in history,click Apply and then click OK.You may also want to click the Content tab and click Auto Complete and check or uncheck your Auto Complete settings to your preference. To clear searches on Yahoo Toolbar,click the pencil icon beside the search box,a menu will drop down,click Clear Recent Searches.If you want to stop saving recent searches,click Toolbar Options and uncheck "Enable Search History",or check "Auto-clear Search History when quitting IE" to clear history when you close your Internet connection. To clear searches on Google toolbar,click "Google" on the left of the search box,a menu will drop down,click Clear Search History.To stop saving searches click options,click search tab and check or uncheck to configure your search box.

Do 2 things: 1) First choose Internet options from Tools Menu ( I am assuming you use IE). You can also do that by going to Control panel, choosing Network and internet connections, and the chhosing internet options in Category view, or choosing Internet options from Control panel if you have classic view. Then delete all cookies, history and clear history. 2) In Internet options, choose "Content" tab, and choose Autocomplete. Unselect all the check boxes, clear all forms, all passwords and click OK. Then click ok on main Internet options window and enjoy your privacy. Try Truecrypt, a free and opensource encryption software for it.Once you get the hang of it, it is really easy to use. And in case you use Mozilla, Choose options from tools menu, choose "privacy" tag and cofigure the "Clear private data tool" to clean your user history when you close the browser.
