When a person comes to the USA from a different country most of their education is recognized but in order to work in that position here in the US everyone needs to prove they have these qualifications by taking a state board exam. For example a nurse from India would need to get a application from the board of nursing and have all her paperwork sent from India then pay the fees here and sit the exam, this is just an example for all other professions (accounting, engineering etc) it is the same you need to find out where you need to apply and do it- its a lengthy process and takes some time.
