What do i do to get a new family card in Chennai, India ?

• Im from Tanjore and im married by August. Im working in Chennai & I want to have a family card here in Chennai. Surfed thru net i came to know the procedure a little bit. But still doubts exist 1. Nearest CS office where i should apply for the same 2. Don't have a address proof but having credit card statements and LIC payment slip. Guid me thru....

  You can't apply for a new card now. The existing card is getting expired in a few months time hence new cards are about to be published for all existing card holders .. so even if you apply one now .. you will get it some where from 6 months to 1 years time only. I had applied for a new card from deleting my name from existing card on may 2008 .. received card by feb 2009 .. whatever points that I had listed down are out of my own experience .... 100% GENUINE advice .. so have a look at it! You are getting married by August - 2011? These are the steps: a) apply for deletion certificate in tanjore .. you need to give your card, an application letter etc; give it in tanjore civil suppliers office and they will give you a deletion certificate. Similarly collect your wife's / would Be's deletion certificate as well. Take at least 5 to 10 xerox copies of this deletion certificates. b) Where are you going to be stay in Chennai after marriage? Decide the place .. depending upon the place you can contact the respective Civil supplies office ... have a look this website - http://www.consumer.tn.gov.in/ search for contact number and tell your area .. they will tell the office that you have to go .. c) go to that office ... write a letter to the commissioner, civil supplies .. stating that .. you had been recently married and want to apply for a new card BY DELETING THE NAMES FROM OLD CARD ... remember there are two new cards case 1: completely new card (this will take about 1 or 2 years to receive) case 2: new card by deleting names in old card .. (this will take about 6 months ... THIS IS YOUR CASE). Submit the application letter + deletion certificates + whatever proofs that you have they will give you a ACKNOWLEDGMENT RECEIPT . HAVE IT SAFELY .. IF YOU LOSE THIS .. THEN THAT'S ALL .... FINISH .... TAKE AT LEAST 10 XEROX COPIES. Using this receipt you can apply for Gas connection, telephone land-line connection etc; d) One day they will come for checking... sometimes they will not come .. but will say they will come, will come .... wait for 3 to 4 months ... see if somebody is coming or not ... go and inquire in Civil supplies office ... this is the indication that they are looking for some bribe .. e) After verification, another 1 or 2 month you will receive a letter asking you to collect the card from office ... sometimes you may not receive letter but ration card would be ready ... so again wait for 2 to 3 months .. if no letter comes .. go straight and inquire ...collect your card. POINTS TO NOTE: a) More than bribing these people, it is the cumbersome process of visiting civil supplies office that is going to cost us b) Be prepare to take at least 15 to 20 days leave in this period of 6 to 8 months. c) Be patient .. it will take at least minimum 6 months to a maximum of a year; if you get it before 6 months .. apply for Guinness record.
