What was your experience with Rotary Youth Exchange like?

Foreign Exchange Student Cost?

• I was hoping my senior year in high school(2012-2013) I could study abroad in Japan by joining one of these foreign exchange programs and giving them an arm and a leg as payment. But in all seriousness, I hear the prices are quite costly so I'm a little reluctant to commit to anything just yet. But if I were to go I wouldn't mind staying in either Sapporo or Tokyo since my grandfather visited them in WWII. However if I have no say in the matter, I still wouldn't mind all that much since it would be an interesting new experience no matter where I go. It sure would be nice to bring back a bunch of journals with an entry for each and everyday to share with him. Well anyways I would like to know what the average price would be for a few different programs(any you know of) if I were to stay in Japan for a full school year. Thank you. P.S. Any information on the Rotary Youth Exchange Program would be appreciated.

  You have to pay a for insurance, the plane tickets, an application fee ($50 I believe), and a few other miscellaneous things. It should cost around $4,000 or $5,000 (but more if you're going to an expensive country). If you're interested, HURRY UP!! Your application is probably due soon. I know mine is due the first week of October (a week from now!!). The application is HUGE. There is so much to do, but if you hurry, you may be able to get it done. If you want to know more about Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE), I recommend searching for videos about it on Youtube. I've posted a link below about how to apply. When you find your application, it may ask for some information that you don't have. If that happens, e-mail a representitive. I'm sure you'll figure it out. Good luck!!
