Is the people to people student ambassador program scam?

My daughter got a letter in the mail. I just want to get all the details. Can you change where she is to go? The Country that is?

Answer:
So you were probably not nominated, you were just one of many thousands who got the same mail shot. P2P are just a firm of travel agents who charge many times what such a trip is worth. They are about as close to a SCAM as you can get and stay legal. It's run by a publicly traded company, so it's like a really expensive travel agency. (Although it wasn't created that way...) People to people is now a for profit travel agency whose products include some educational aspects. Don't get me wrong - I agree Travelling abroad is a good way to broaden your horizon, but you should ask yourself - does it have to be with this company (and now)? You can go to Europe yourself and follow your own itinerary and do what YOU want. > It kind of just came out of no where. Your student files are confidential and no privately run company should have access for their marketing purposes. This includes the teachers and administrators who should handle your address confidentially. > I was selected to be a student ambassador for people to people > it says i was also nominated? How could i have nominated? Good to ask those questions. Someone must have provided them with your address! Think about it. The person supplying your address might have done so in good faith as you might seemed to have had interest in going abroad before or you might have made a good impression on someone in your community. But it could also just be the fact that your parents live in the part of town where people live who could afford to sent their kids abroad ... Your parents are responsible for your well-being and they will have to cover the full bill. Remember, whenever you have to pay you are essentially buying something!!! It's your parents decision to decide if this is worth the high price. Complementing you on being chosen is the oldest trick in marketing, Although this is a real offer, it's not an honorable way to do business. The material send to you contains just enough to get you wrapped up in excitement. And that is all they need because only you know which buttons to push to convince your parents to pay thousands of dollars for such an "unique" unforgettable experience. > ... it may not be "educational" but it is an unforgettable experience. I hope you can remember other unforgettable experiences (e.g. a nice holiday etc.) in your life. They are usually not as expensive as this programme (product). The value of the trip depends on how you value the opportunity to go abroad. People will be living there at any time and you can met them whenever you are there. So compare the price you are asked to pay with a comparable hotel stay at the same destination on and off season. The price difference might be astonishing. Some say they plan to pay for the trip through fund-raising - nice idea. Let someone else pay for your unforgettable experiences abroad. Really? They will stall if you ask the total costs as they know it's far too high, Don't sign anything until the absolute total costs are confirmed. Btw. staff from the People to People Ambassador Programs are also posting here under non-official looking nicknames I might add. So I would be very sceptical about all the phrasing from past participants that make it sound like a unique opportunity, unforgettable experiences etc. Who can ensure that they haven't decided to extend their PR to this website?

No it is not a scam the only reason you heard it was a scam is because it's a lot of money of course it's a lot of money your going half way around the world but the only reason it's so much money is because that it includes your food, your travel tickets, your hotel which is like 3-4 star so it's really good and no you can't change your country but it's better for her to go in the country given because they have a reason to give her that country you should let your daughter go because it's a great experience i'm going to Italy, Sicily, and Greece summer 2012 for 6,499 dollars and if you go to your local meeting which you'll find all the information in the letter they gave your daughter you can find all the information you need for where your local meeting is, go to the website below and surf it for everything about the program. And watch videos all about it. I hope I was Helpful.
I just got the same letter inviting me to England, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Switzerland next summer soooo I did some research because I got a letter from a different program a while ago and it sounded like a real scam too but I found that it is LEGIT. You can't change the place, I don't think because there is a group of kids selected and they all go to the same places. I can't go though, because it costs like $5,000 and I, am not rich. xD
