Do employers really check if you have a degree?

Hi frnds can any one tell how to verify a degree certificate fake or original?

• hi frnds , well can any one know how to check the validness of a degree certificate, for the reason my frnd got a certificate after writing degree one sitting exam by joining in a institute where degree one sitting is allowed for degree discontinued personnel. now he want to verify is it genuine or not, please tell me the procedure to follow to verify that degree certificate in the university or where ever it is suppose to do, just like employers do verification of certificates of candidates joining in their companies, one thing he had prepared well and wrote the exam genuinely and finally got the degree certificate but he is doubtful on the certificate issued by the institute. pls help me frnds in this regard.
