How can I study law in America?

Can a English student study law in America?

  • IE. at Harvard Law School? And can I have an English degree?

  • Answer:

My daughter's US law school has tons of British students. As this is a very long and expensive way to get a law degree, much cheaper to do the Graduate Diploma in Law in the UK which is just a nine month course, I am not sure why they come to New York. Both countries use Common Law so it is technically possible to read law in one country and practice in the other subject to taking the Legal Practice Exam (UK) or the Bar Exam (USA). Unfortunately it is not that simple as there is the little matter of getting employed and trained which is going to be next to impossible from the wrong country.

If you meet the entrance requirements of a school where you apply, yes, you would be able to study law in the United States. The competition to get into Harvard is very keen. Unless you were one of the highest ranked students in your undergraduate school, it's very probable that you would not gain admission to Harvard. There are, however, many other law schools in the United States. It's possible that you could be admitted to one of them. The tuition at law schools is very high.

Harvard is another shameless university that keep producing lots of flunkeys and lackeys who always become leeches and thieves.

Check the Harvard Law website. They have lots of international students.

You could but you wouldn't be able to practice in the UK as the legal systems are different.
