My son is studying in canada toronto in community college. can he change his course.?
-
I am narrating herewith certain facts in the light of which I seek clarification. My son has gone to Toronto, Canada to study. He has completed his graduation here in India in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The consultants who guided him to reach Canada did not disclose that the programme for which he is going is not of post graduate or of master’s level instead we were told that it is of Post graduate level. On joining the college my son came to know that it is a post secondary diploma. Now he says that the programme for which he is admitted ie “Electrical Engineering Technology (fast track and co op) is a post secondary diploma whereas he wanted to get admitted in post graduate diploma or masters. Now he is willing to change the course from post secondary diploma to Masters. Can you advise me how he can change the programme now? The college in which he is studying does not have Post graduate or Master’ programme. Whether the feeses paid to the college will be refunded if he changes the programme. He has just joined the college during the present semester and he is required to pay some more fees before the end of Feb. 2010. What are the best options for him. Is the course which he has joined is a best course and if it is pursued even after graduation will it be worthy. He has got seven bands in IELTS and 64 percent marks in engineering. The college authorities in Toronto (I do not like to disclose college name) say that this programme is a very good programme designed in a perfect manner and that the quality of education is equal to that of the studies in North America. What ever the quality of education may be the student will be under mental pressure that he is studying a course which is less than what he has already studied, moreover the certificate which will be awarded after the course will be a diploma but not masters. I am mentally worried so please advise what to do now. I want to add that the college in which he is studying is appear to be an above average college in terms of studies which is having campuses in different locations of Toronto. I have invested an amount of around 6500 dollars towards fees apart from other related expenses. Waiting for reply.
