Worth of Studying MBA?

  • I am a BSc Computer Science Graduate. I am planning to do MBA. Is it worth studying MBA? Which field is better in MBA for my career because I said already that I am a BSc Computer Science graduate. What is the salary package does I get after did my MBA? And please mention some of the best B-Schools too. Thanks.

    (Assuming that you want to do MBA in India.. You cannot do MBA in US unless you have atleast 2-3 years of job experience) Getting an MBA can definitely help you define a better career, particularly since your's is BSc degree and not Engineering Degree. That said, more important than doing an MBA in India is from where you do it. You need to set an aim for yourself - can you shoot for top 10 schools or top 20 or even lower. I would not suggest doing MBA from a local MBA school that seem to be mushrooming everywhere. To answer more formally: 1. Do you have a particular career in mind, or happy with any job? 2. Check if you can get into top 10 B-Schools (IIM, SP Jain, XLRI) 3. As for field, you might consider doing MBA in Project Management/Information Technology or Consulting. 4. Salary package will depend on which school you do MBA from. Top schools boast of salary packages of Rs 10Lac +. The top salaries still go to people who already have work experience.
