Colleges in Europe, expensive?
-
I really really want to go to college in europe (im only a freshman in high school right now, but you know...) but my mom and dad keep saying how its too expensive and they could never be able to pay for it. But, i figured if I got a job next year and started saving up, i could add some of my money to my college funds, and help that along. my babysitter said, however, that some colleges and universities aren't that expensive, and she even got an offer for one! I'm so confused, i don't know who's correct! Im interested in studying the arts (music, painting, etc) and i want to go somewhere that speaks english, my foreign language skills leave a lot to be desired. if you know any colleges or universities that are relatively cheap (i know they aren't going to be really cheap, i just mean not incredibly expensive) and mainly focus on the arts, that'd be a lot of help.

Answer:
depends on where you go. but you have to take in public vs. private college into consideration. public colleges tend to be cheaper. but they are about the same price as the US.

You do know there are a couple of dozen different countries in Europe, and that the charges for university are different in every single one, right? You want to go somewhere that speaks English? That's the UK or Ireland, then. Both have high university fees for international students. You also can't "focus on the arts". You'll need to apply for a specific degree. More research needed. Europe is not the US only further away.

First, if you're a foreign student, you probably can't work in Europe. They are two different visas. Second, if you're working, part time...think about it...right now, a round-trip airfare to Europe costs between $1000 and $2000/PER TRIP. Depending on where you live. Round trips are cheaper than one ways, and...you'll likely wind up wasting half of them most of the time, because they have to be used within a certain amount of time. do you REALLY think you can handle being away from your family that long? That far? Better plan: Go to a public university (state school) where you live, and take a year abroad. WAY cheaper...less muss, less fuss, and you'll be protected by having a program to help take care of you. What if you get into some kind of trouble? What if you get raped? Or attacked? Or hit by a bus? Or contract some catastrophic disease? Or all your money is stolen? Or the country goes into a coup? If you're there on your own, you have to deal with that, IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE on your own. If you're on a program, you have someone who knows the culture, the language, the red tape, to help you through it.

in a lot of places it's free...like france...they think it's crazy we charge over here..anyway yea...its only for cizitens ...i wouldn't recommend going to europe for college right after high school...do what a lot of people do which is do a semester or a year study abroad program with a unversity here In the united states your junior year.most colleges have a lot of places to chose from..i know the college I'm going to right now osu, has like over 100 places you can go to in 40 countrys around the world and that about 20% of students have some study abroad experince usually their junior year....due to my major I'm going to need to do it ..though I don't know where I want to go..maybe greece anyway I stil have a year and a half to decide cause I'm a freshmen....and you still have 4 years to go and believe me you come out of high school completely different then when you came in so chance are your probablt change you mind about it
