Applying to a British Uni from America, what are A-levels?
-
I am currently 16 as a sophomore in high school in america. I'm planning on applying to uni's in england when i'm a senior. It means a lot to me to get into a British uni because I'm moving there in 2 years (which is when i'll be done with high school.) I was wondering how I would be able to apply and get in? I've been getting a lot of negative feedback from people, saying I need to be a super genuis to get into a UK school from the US. The problem is, I've been in regular classes my freshman year, and this year. Except I have one IB/Honors class which is MUN. I plan to keep doing MUN junior and senior year, but I still feel behind as i am in regular classes. My current GPA is 3.8. Any advice? I really need to get into a british school! And whats the deal with Alevels? How can i get thhem done before i apply?

Answer:
Hey well im English and i think i can help Over hear we Do GCSE's which is kind of like your SAT's We dont have a GPA but we have levels like: A* = 4.0+ A = 4.0 B = 3.0 C = 2.0 and so on we go to regular school until we are 16 and then we do are GCSE's and you need 5 , A* to C grades to get into Collage then we do collage for 2 years working on A-Levels and the same rules aply for A-levels If you have a 3.8 you would get into collage and then study 2 years of whatever then go onto University of Law Hope this helps and no you dont need to be super smart. are Universitys are deciding to branch out to other countrys You may have heard of Oxford and Cambridge ? well they are are best schools/uni's all you need to impress them is good grades, people skills and Do alot of extra stuff like clubs and out of school activities
