What are some different but great techniques to study for a test?

What is the best way to study for my university psychology exam?

• So in secondary school (high school), for my (high school certificate), each week I would sit in class and take notes of what the teacher was saying, do the prescribed activities and homework, and whatever practice tests they gave me. Then, when there was a big test/examination, i would summarise the chapter from the text book (or for an exam, everything)... and put it into cue cards and memorise the whole thing pretty much... although this worked for me (as i could make sure I had covered literally everything that could be on the test (thus, this is what i would do in an ideal world), it was extremely f*cking time consuming and now that I am in university, I don't have the time or interest level in my subjects to be going to that much effort. Not to mention, University is a much different structure, and you don't have people following you up telling you what you need to do. I used to marvel and the fact that i knew everything that could possibly be on the test and could be confident and stress-free while others would be sh*tting themselves 10 minutes prior because they hadn't studied properly. Now, tables have turned.. i am lucky to get a pass. I hardly ever turn up to lectures... sometimes i even miss the compulsory labs or tutorials. I can't find this balance between study and social life. I need a study routine that won't consume all my time? In the short-term, I need to know a good effective way to study for this psychology exam i have in 4 days? I am reading the lecture notes (which outlines/details all the material in the subject) and taking the information from that down.. i keep finding myself writing it out word for word though. This is taking most of my time. PLEASE, i would so much appreciate it if you guys have any study techniques that have worked for you?

  Make flash cards! That always got me through my college exams. I graduated with 3.86 GPA. I think I did pretty good!
