What are the differences between Canadian and American universities?

Universities in the UK or the US?

  • I just wonder what are the differences between universities in the UK and the US (about the campus life etc ) I am in a university of the UK, if i want to transfer to an American university, how to transfer my credit into GPA? i know they are two different systems, but how to calculate my credit? thanx

  • Answer:

Campus life: Both countries have several clubs and parties. However in the US the greek (fraternity and sorority) life is prevalent. In the US the legal drinking age is 21 unlike the UK. Degree: In the UK one generally focuses on one field. In the US you can take different classes from your chosen field, however some persons find this inconvenient. You would also have to take general education requirements (classes in english, math, social sciences etc) these are required by every student. US degrees take 4 years to complete unlike UK degrees. Tuition: You can expect to pay around $30,000-$50,000 per year for your degree in a US university as an international student. Most US universities will not accept credit gained from an overseas institution due to the differing systems.
