Japanese universities?

I would like to know about universities. I am Japanese and have been studying English in England for 6months.?

  • Then I've decided to go to university here. Firstly, I have to take foundation course before going to university due to differences of education system between japan and uk. A lot of universities and some colleges have foundation course. If I choose colleges' one, I can get a lot of information about university and choose one during the course. On the other hand, if I go to universities' one, I can't change university after the course. So, it's better to go colleges' one, but its fee is incredibly expensive.. I'm 18 years old and I have had only part time work for 1month in Japan just before I came to England. So my parents are willing to pay it, but I'm feeling sorry about it. That's why I possibly would like to go to universities' one. Then my subject that I wanna study at university is Management(Business studies). So far, I looked for information about universities on their web site and 'uk university ranking', and now some of my choices that I'm thinking to go are Lancaster university, Exeter university, York university. Though I do not know if I can get into their course, first of all I need to know what is good university and where is the best for me to go. Especially I'm interested in Lancaster. I looked "uk top university ranking" and its position was very good. But actually no one around me, including language school teachers, really know about Lancaster.(I think it is because Lancaster is northern part.) Most people say 'Exeter and York is very good! but I don't know much about Lancaster. But I think it's good'. So, I would be grateful if someone tell me things about Lancaster or Exeter ot York university, such as their surroundings, atmosphere, shops in town, living costs, things like that. and your recommendation if you have. I've already looked thier websites and university ranking. It's a big decision. so, I know the best way is to visit the university and the town, but I live in south east and I'm gonna take English exam next week. so I'm being occupied with my studies now.... but after my exam, if it's not too late, I will go to see them even if it's expensive, it's worth going. Sorry for my bad English, and thank you for reading it and your great patience to read!!haha I'm looking forward to hearing good advices:) thank you very much!!

Don't rely on teachers or yahoo answers, go here http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/table/2011/may/17/university-league-table-2012 and look up the universities you are interested in. You can sort by subject. Best to stay in the top 10 - I think Lancaster is ranked 10th. I suggest you also look at St Andrews which has an outstanding reputation and an excellent foundation year. Expect tuition fees to be at least £10,000 a year and your cost of living to be the same again.

I would book a tour of the campus. This way you can get a first hand look at campus life and ask all the relevant questions of the faculty and staff. http://domino.lancs.ac.uk/ad/campustours.nsf/booking?readform
