Can I have a second bachelor's degree in the USA?

If I get an Associates degree in the USA and go to London, where can I get a Bachelors degree? Is it possible?

  • I'm wondering if I get a 2 year associates degree here in America and then move to London, England..does anyone know or have some experience with continuing their schooling to get a bachelors degree at a London University? Obviously school is much more expensive there so I'm just wondering if this is possible at all...are there exams you can take to prove you are at the proper level to do the third year education there? Do any of the credits transfer at any of the schools? Any help or info/experience is appreciated!!

  • Answer:

Here is some information from the University of Kent: As UK undergraduate degrees are usually very specialised and shorter in duration than degrees in the USA (usually three years compared to a standard four year degree in the USA), the ability to gain advanced standing from an Associate Degree can sometimes be limited as we must determine that your Associate Degree has covered exactly the same level and content as the courses students have taken at Kent. This is because our undergraduate degrees build knowledge and learning as you progress through the degree, for instance courses taken in year two will relate and depend upon issues and concepts learnt in year one. If you do wish to apply to the University of Kent with an Associate Degree, our minimum requirement is a GPA of 3.0, although some degree programmes may prefer students with a GPA of 3.3. You are requested to provide as much information as possible about your community college, including details regarding which four-year institution your college is linked with, your course syllabus (class descriptions) and so on. You should also be aware that most students with Associate Degrees are accepted into year one of our courses. Hope this helps
