What does a 4 year degree in the US equal in the UK?

What's the procedure to study law in the USA after doing a 3 year degree in it in the UK?

  • I want to do US law, but how many exams must i take before i'm qualified to actually be a solicitor there? someone tells me i have to take the bar exam.. i just want to know i'll be about 21 when i finish here and i just want to know how much time or do they look for anything specific i did in the UK (exams) because we don't have this whole SAT and GPA thing.. thanks!

  • Answer:

GPA stands for "Grade Point Average" and SATs are not required to enter law school. If you get your law degree from the UK, you will probably need to get a Master's in Law (LLM) from a US Law School. This degree is specially designed for students with foreign law degrees. Once you graduate, you will need to take the Bar exam for the state where you wish to practice. Law School requirements usually include: grades (transcripts from your UK university), recommendations and LSAT scores. Go to http://www.lsac.org for more information. Good Luck!
