How could I study abroad?

How to convince my parents to allow me to study abroad?

  • It has always been my dream to study abroad in UK. But my parents, especially my dad, is totally off that idea. I did many researches on the schools, and the bank that gives education loan with the lowest interest rate and stuffs. I also looked for a company in Singapore that helps students apply for the UK schools and apply for visa, i visited their office and people working there are also experienced. My consultant also explained to me about the accommodation there and all those little details that we will face when we study abroad. I was totally fine with all the disadvantages. She also requested for my parents to come down to visit her. But i think my parents will never go there. I spoke to my mother for quite a few times about this, because she was more approachable. She kinda agrees with the idea of me studying abroad if there wasn’t any financial problem. However, my dad is still the one who makes the final decision. I tried asking him the first time and it failed. ): The second time i asked him, he rejected it completely without even hearing my explanation. I bet he has no idea how much research i made. I felt so helpless when he did that. I didn’t even want to look at him or talk to him unless i really need to. He’s so unreasonable. He said 17 was too young, and he’ll only allow me at 21. That’s crazy. Also, he said that studying abroad isn’t an easy stuffs. Well, i know that, i didn’t said it was easy anyway. But at least it is less stressful than the studies in Singapore. He shot me back with many questions and didn’t give me a chance to explain. For example, he said ‘what’s the use of bringing us up when we’re gonna leave them?’ Isn’t that a normal thing? Does that mean that i can’t even marry to another person because i’m gonna leave them if i do that? And in the first place, its not like i’m not coming back right? Another thing he said that i felt was totally irrelevant and unreasonable was that, he said that he didn’t want me in an express streamed class because of this. Doesn’t all parents want their child to do their best and get to greater heights and all? I have no idea what’s in his mind. I’m currently 15 now, and my friend and I are planning to go abroad when we finish our O levels. By that time, we’ll be 17. Please help me. Its my dream to go to UK and study psychology.

Daddy doesn't want to see his girl grow up. Awww... But seriously, this is a thing you do in college, not in high school.

Studying in Europe as early as possible is a very good idea.....Not only is it your dream, but it can also give you many advantages over other people when applying for your job. Explain to your father that allowing you too do so will make you a more responsible and more independent person, you wont have mommy and daddy to run too when you need help. It teaches you so many things in life, and widens your perspective on life its self. I would say many make a power point for all the reasons and advantages that you want to go, and how it will help you in the long run. Don't let them ruin your dream....
