Answer:
Lots of questions! -An LLB is a Bachelor of Laws degree. In other word's, a bachelor's degree. You can get into law school in the United States because you have a bachelor's degree. You would be eligible for admission. -The LLM specifically exists for people like you. To practice law in the US without an American JD, you will need to get an LLM and pass the state bar exam in the state where you want to work. Law school and LLM programs do not prepare you to take the bar. The bar is a test for which you study separately. But yes, you will have to pass the bar. Every lawyer in the US has to pass the bar. :) -I do not believe that an LLM in India would work because you want an LLM in American law, not Indian law. The LLB in India is fine for either a JD program or an LLM program in the US, but the LLM in India defeats the purpose of obtaining an LLM to practice in the US. The LLM will give you specialized knowledge of US law. -I think it's smarter to get an American JD. Law firms do accept people with foreign law degrees and LLMs, but a full 3-year JD is given more weight. -There are no inexpensive law schools! :) Honestly, law school everywhere is expensive. Tuition ranges from 20-50k per year + cost of living loans (you can't really work and go to law school at the same time). You want to go to a good school, and that's going to depend on your GPA and your LSAT score. If these numbers are high enough, you could qualify for a scholarship, which would reduce your debt. Aim for the top-14 schools. Short of that, aim for tier one schools in the state where you want to live and work.

I am not a lawyer, but I doubt it. Your legal system isn't the same as ours. It's different than getting your nursing degree in India (it doesn't matter where you are, you would still do assessments the same) or your engineering degree in Bangalore (math is math) but law? I think you'd need to come to the US for that.

i think you will have to pass the bar in whatever state in the US you want to practice in. i am not sure if this is still true, but at some point, people went for the Juris doctor degree as the way to prepare for taking the bar exam. there may be state requirements for the degree- i just don't know.
