Private or Public school when you want to study in another country?

When I go to college, I want to study abroad and I'm just confused about the whole process..help me?

  • I was born and raised in the USA. Don't get me wrong; I love America. I just never got a chance to vacation out of the states and I would love to travel. I figured..why not kill two birds with one stone? Get my college degree out of the country. I looked into it a little. I know some degrees don't transfer back and I don't want to have to start over when I'm ready to come back home. Everyone is saying well once you get there, you'll love it and you won't want to come back. You won't need to transfer your degree. Well ..you can't make a decision like that over night so I'm scared to risk it all and get my degree in an entirely different country. I'm looking into going to Australia. Well somewhere in the Oceania region. Europe is beautiful but everyone backpacks in Europe after high school. I want to do something a little different. Can someone tell me schools that offer a study abroad program in Australia so I can come back and have my American MBA. AHH! Someone just explain this to me. I'm a junior in high school and I would really like to have a plan.

  • Answer:

The process is different for each country and each individual school, but if you know what it is you want to study and where you would like to go for your exchange experience then it might be easier. Hopefully this site: www.studyportals.eu will help you get a better idea and clearer understanding.

There are plenty of unis in foreign countries that have transferrable credits/degrees. I wouldn't even worry about it as long as it's an accredited school. First figure out which region you want to study in, and pick a handful of schools. Then apply to them, and then you just go! It's really that simple, you can talk to one of their advisors through email or over the phone and they'll help you figure out the process.

FSU has an amazing study abroad program. You enroll with them and choose where you want to go and when (Fall, Spring, or Summer). They have programs in a LOT of places around the world and Australia is one of them! Here is the website so you can get some more details. Good luck! http://international.fsu.edu/Types/College/Australia/Default.aspx

If you're going to an English speaking country then it should be easy.
