What can you tell me about med schools in Germany and France?

• My great-uncle went to med school in Germany, but it's difficult to reach him, and I'm sure since his time there, things have changed. I've heard that tuition is free, is that true? What language is primarily used in the universities? German or English? Is English a common language throughout the country? Also, after graduation, do students have a difficult time finding work throughout Europe? Can anybody give me similar informations for med schools in France? How do they compare to med schools in America?

  Hi, it depends on what you want to "study". There are different kinds of training for different kinds of professions. E.g. if you want to be a nurse. You will be in a dual training (on the job and at school, but in this case "school" is not university, you'll receive a state certificate). If you want to be a doctor you will have to attend university. Tuitions used to be free but it changed last year. It's about 600 Euro per semester for college plus living expenses such as food, housing and whatever else you need. The language at university is mainly German. You can get along in the country if you speek English. But you will most likely have to pass a German language test if you want to study at and get a degree from a German University. Finding work completely depends on what you choose to be your "specialist" area later.
