How much money should I bring studying abroad in Spain?
-
I'm planning on spending 3 months in Granada, Spain. Currently I am saving roughly 250-300 USD per paycheck and an extra 500 dollars per month. How much should I bring? I plan on visiting other big cities while I am there obviously and I am 23, so factor in going out regularly. My room and board are all covered and some meals as well. Just have to purchase my plane ticket which is around 800-900 round trip. Thanks!

Answer:
I'd try to make sure you have AT LEAST $1500 extra (after the plane ticket and room and board). You'll easily spend that much in visiting places and going out.

It's difficult to say, mostly because your travel plans seem to be kind of vague. How often is "going out regularly"? How often do you plan to travel? How do you plan to travel? Are you planning to buy a bulk travel package like a rail pass in advance, or pay as you go? Spain, like most of Europe, can be incredibly expensive. It's a lot more expensive if you live like a tourist rather than a traveler. I'd recommend pricing out transportation, making a detailed list of where you'd like to go and where you can avoid, and considering cheaper alternatives to travel and accommodations (for example, hostels instead of hotels). When I studied abroad doing a lot of research about travel beforehand gave me the chance to put together a much more accurate budget. Hope this helps.

It depends on what you want A pint of beer costs circa € 2-3 per pint, cocktails in a cheap bar € 4-5 and € 9-10 in clubs / "hot" bars Food is fairly cheap in shops, average family weekly shop is circa € 100 per week. Staples like bread etc are less than euro a loaf etc You can buy a decent bottle of wine for € 2-3 on the supermarkets, spriits (Spanish) € 5 per bottle / named brands € 10 per bottle. BTW bottles of 2L water costs as little as 15c Menu del dia will cost between € 7-10 some include drinks etc. Coffee and soft drinks are € 1-3 in bars Be aware that there's no real consumer protection and most goods are shoddy due to mistreatment during delivery. If something doesn't work, they will send it for repair even if you've just handed over the money Car hire is cheap out of season - you can as low as € 25 out of season, but it can double or more in season As always, airport and motorway service stations etc prices are 2-3 times the above BTW Spain is still one of the cheapest places in Europe and probably 40-50% of the cost of the UK, France, Germany etc I hope that that helps Good luck and enjoy Source(s):
