How to go to college in England?

I am a USA citizen college student who wants to go to England to study. Help?

  • I am a current college student in San Diego, California. I do not like the system in the United States such as the Health Care system, College Loans system, Educational system, etc. So, I want to go to England to get my college degree there and hopefully stay there permanently. I have heard of many good things such as lower college tuition and free universal health care. So, that do I need, for example, I want to go there for the 2012/2013 school year. I do not know any people there, how can I start? How much money do I need, where can I live for the first months? Any additional comments?

  • Answer:

University degree not college degree. College has a different meaning in the UK. All applications are done via UCAS. http://www.ucas.ac.uk The deadline is January 15 2012 for the 2012/2013 academic year. You would either live on halls at the university or find private accommodation. Tuition costs depend on the university you choose and the degree. Expect to pay anywhere from 10,000-25,000 per year as an international student. Most UK universities require at least 3 AP tests with grades of 3-5 or 3 SAT subject tests.
