Should I study abroad in England, Ireland, or Scotland?

Study abroad in Ireland or Scotland?

  • I want to study abroad in one of the two places and can't decide which one to study abroad in. I have never been to either place, and don't know much about the places except that they are really pretty. Any help you could give me would be great! Thanks!

    Do you mean Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland - they are separate countries. I'm assuming Northern Ireland because it's part of the UK. Northern Ireland and Scotland are both beautiful countries with great cities for student life. Personally I prefer Scotland, it has top universities in the UK. But you should base your choice on the course you want to study etc. If possible I think you should visit the universities you were thinking of applying to in Scotland and Northern Ireland. I would suggest University of Edinburgh and St Andrews University because they are some of the best in the country. Also, you should apply to more than one, so apply to the ones you like because you may not get into all of them. Hope this helps, good luck. :-)

Well it depends on what you're looking for: your course of study, what kind of place you want to live in, etc. If you want a city, look at Dublin or Edinburgh. If you want a smaller town, Galway and Inverness are both nice (I've visited both). Belfast (capital of Northern Ireland) is also beautiful & home to some great universities. It also depends on whether you want to travel a lot outside of Ireland or Scotland, and if so, you may want to be closer to a large city so you can easily travel to the continent. :)

Glasgow is cheap to live and it has a number of universities within the city. It is one of the best places to live in the UK. But Dublin has a great reputation as well.
