What to do after my A Levels, instead of University?

Can you go to University with NVQs instead of A levels?

  • I've heard that NVQs can equate to A levels? is this true and also is it possible to go to uni with NVQS? I have a level 2 and 3 in Health and social care and would like to do a social work course. Any help apprecitated Matt

  • Answer:

You sure can. NVQs go to level 5 which is higher than an actual degree. On this government website look at the table and you'll see that A levels count as a level 3 NVQ and it also tells you some other equivalents. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/EducationAndLearning/QualificationsExplained/DG_10039017 Level 4 NVQ is the same as a degree. However ultimately it is up to the university to decide. I would suggest finding universities that do a social work course and contacting them or it may even state the requirements on their website.
