Hey there are loads of companies out there that offer community and building style volunteering. If you want to make sure that you are working with a legitimate project that really makes a difference I would suggest checking out this site: http://www.i-to-i.com/volunteer/, they work with local organisations and have projects all over the world so there's plenty of choice; plus they're based in the UK so you can chat to them if you want to! There's a Facebook page too if you want to check it out http://www.facebook.com/#!/itoimeaningfultravel

peacecorps.gov is a great place to start! My friend just got hired on, and now she is working in the Philippines! There are also agricultural groups which you can volunteer for in different countries-you basically live and work on a farm or the like, and you work out the terms with the family. I heard great experiences from those as well. Red Cross is always in need as well. Hopefully these can start you in the right direction!

Hi Xo, There are many organizations out there available to you. when you google volunteer abroad you will be overwhelmed by the number of options you will get. although there are a few companies from the UK that stand out like http://volunteercapitalcentre.org

Hey there...well a lot of the UK based agencies will mug you over because they are more like travel agents. But you can check out a good organization that has affordable prices and is actually based in the country where it has the projects. I went with Leave UR Mark last year for an internship abroad and really enjoyed my experience there, so now I help people do the same. There were tons of Brits too so we had a lot of fun. Check out the website and take a look at some of the programs. The Sustainable Community Development project would be good for you: http://www.leaveurmark.com Have fun!
