I want to settle in Europe, preferably Scandinavia, Germany/Austria or the UK ?
-
Hello there. I am 17 and I want an european career. And by this, I mean work somewhere in any European country where there is a christian majority (Almost all of them). I am not European (I am Indian; and can EASILY pass off as caucasian: but this has got nothing to do with appearence.) I know two European languages and have attained native proficieny in both of them; the two languages being English and German. This means that I already know the languages spoken in 5 European countries (U.K, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Switzerland). Right now, I am in high school and focussed on Science, (Physics, Biology and Chemistry) and Math. However, I am more keen on learning languages. And also, since I am 17, I have a lot of opportunities in my hands. My adult life has not even started and thus I can mould the base any way I want. So, what do I do for working and living in Europe ? Please trust me when I say that I speak fluent English and German. Me lying about this won't help my case. A friend of mine told me that you need to master at least 3 European languages to be able to work for the EU. (Only 1 more left for me to do.) Maybe there is some sort of system where you can give medical exams and the language proficiency exams of a particular European country and settle there as a doctor ? (I have taken Biology as a subject as mentioned above, so I can enter the medical field.) Should I just learn another European language so that the total would add upto 3 ? What is booming and is greatly in demand in Europe as of now ? I would just love to settle in Scandinavian countries, and I am completely willing to work hard to acheive that (Learn their language and stuff). Something along the lines of Sweden or Denmark would be GREAT. Germany/Austria would be more awesome. UK is also on the list. I am sorry to sound ignorant if I do, but I don't know about any procedures or anything. Cheers and thanks a lot !!

Answer:
Your first problem is to find a legal way of immigration to Europe. The immigration laws of the EU countries are individual, so you should first decide which country it is to be and then check the relevant immigration rules. It will not be easy and maybe impossible. (The idea that you need three languages to work for the EU might or might not be true, but having three languages will not help you in the least with immigration). Regarding Germany, your best bet would be to study in Germany. There is a law in Germany that says when you study in Germany as a foreigner, and you find a job in Germany within one year after completing your studies, you can stay in Germany. However, it must be a qualified job in the field you studied and the local job center must agree (this means that no qualified German can be found to fill the job). So you should concentrate on finding a subject to study that is in high demand in Germany. Studying medicine would be a good idea because doctors are in demand in Germany (in hospitals and also resident doctors for remote places in the countryside), however, getting a university place for medicine is difficult. Another interesting subject would be engineering. For all this, of course, fluent German is a must.
