What do I need to know as a foreign exchange student next year?

What should I know about being an exchange student?

• I am going to be an exchange student in Germany next year (my junior year in high school). Its through the Rotary Youth Exchange program. I am not allowed to go back home once I start the year, and its very expensive to ship items from New Jersey (my current place of residence) to Germany. I don't know where in Germany I'll be as of yet. What do I need to know? What should I pack, aside from the obvious? Any tips?

  i just got back from my exchange to brazil from the us with rotary : D you will love ittt!!!!! hahaa, just know to be extremly open minded. my favorite food in brazil was chicken hearts, and i did not want to try them at all... there will be many challenges but the end result is amazingg. one big mistake many people make though is that when they get homesick they get on the comp and talk to people back home.. DONT it makes it worse!! haha, dont worry about packing too much, you will have so much new/ different stuff by the end of your exchange. but take pics of your life at home to show people, and also take little key chains or somethings to give out. you will love your exchange : ) let me know if you have anymore questions.. i would be glad to help
