Going to study in a university in the UK.Need your advice?

Going to University or take a gap year? Need advice...?

  • So I'm finishing my BTEC extended Diploma Art and Design This year, it means I will now start applying for Universities...The thing that bothers me is obviously the FEES, I think it is ridiculous that the tuition fees are rising up to 9000 pounds a year, and I thought that I can't see myself paying the debt back once I finish my degree, specially in a art/design field, will it really be worth the debt to study BA fashion illustration or BA Fine art-painting? If I take a gap year I would maybe keep learning French and get fluent and then apply to University in Paris. As it is way cheaper to study there and lot of Artists study down there..I'm not really sure what to do, I'm already 20 and I have made enough of mistakes in my career...any advice? thank you

  • Answer:

Why not go to Paris during the gap year and work in the fashion industry? That would also enable you to learn more French. Being on site in France, you'd actually have to use the language on a daily basis. As for working, it might be more helpful in learning about fashion design, as well getting a start in establishing a career. If you later want to apply to a university in Paris, you can do so then.
