Has anybody ever gotten their first choice for the rotary club exchange?

Is it too late to apply to Rotary Youth Exchange?

  • I'm currently a junior in high school. Originally, I wanted to participate in Rotary's long term Youth Exchange program during my junior year, but that didn't fall through because my mom was worried I was "too young." I recently brought up the idea to my parents again, and they just gave me the "ok" to try and apply to go abroad my senior year of high school. I just contacted my local Rotary club and I'm hoping it isn't too late. It's January 2012 right now... so if I want to go during my senior year of high school, 2012-2013, do you think it's too late to apply? I just want to know if I should get my hopes up. I know it kind of differs from district to district, but if you've been a part of RYE already, hopefully you can give me an idea? Waiting for my local club to contact me back is killing me, haha :P Also, if I'm applying this late, what is the chance of me getting my first or second choice? I really want to go to Japan.

    I don't know about WEP, but I suggest you check out www.best-student-exchange.com, because they have hundreds of families online who want ot exchange and you can stay in different countries with various families (like family-hopping) and best of all: the price is peanuts compared to usual agencies, because you arrange the exchange yourself and with that you save thousands of $. So I think it is the best program out there. I went to Europe and it rocked!

lol i plan on going my junior year and i want to go to japan also =D talk to your school's counselor they will know seeing as it's their job=) if it is too late you could try study abroad foundation i'm not sure if all programs take the same amount of time to prepare but that could be your fallback if it is too late but it probably wont be i hope you find out tomorrow and i really hope you get accepted!!!! best of luck!!!!!
