Has anyone ever studied abroad in Greece?

Has anyone studied abroad in Budapest, Hungary?

  • I am from the U.S., and I am very interested in studying abroad in Budapest. I have studied abroad before, would like to see a large city in Eastern Europe, and I would also enjoy the challenge (only 23% know English according to wikipedia). What can you tell me about your experience - the people, culture, living standards, etc.? Also, what is the crime like? Thanks for the help!

  • Answer:

Dear, if you ever start with calling Budapest as an "Eastern European city" you will surely not return to the U.S. :P Just to make it clear it is NOT Easren Europe, we used to call it Central Europe or "the heart of Europe". Lesson 2. Wikipedia is not always right. Try posting there anything stupid and see how long it takes them to delete it - if they ever delete it... As for the percentage, I think it is a bit higher, of course it depends what you consider as language skills, as English or German is compulsory from elementary schools, most of the young people can communicate in English, even if only the basics. As Hungarian doesnt belong to the group of Indoeuropean languages it is naturally hard for a Hungarian to master a language like English. Hungarian accent is hard but lovely :) Emm, I am going to update my answer, but have to go now, sorry :)
