Should I study abroad, even though I am a biochem major????? HELP PLEASE! THANKS!!!!!!! :D?
-
I am currently a freshman in college, and I would love to study abroad!! My school offers study abroad programs. I am thinking of traveling to the UK or Ireland. Any suggestions on which country? I prefer cold weathers! :) The problem is I'm a biochem major, and I REALLY want to graduate in 4 years, and I heard studying abroad may set me back a year or something. I really want to travel abroad though, just to get the experience and open my eyes. I should submit an application soon b/c i want to be here in the US during my senior year, so i dont want to travel then. So should i travel abroad or graduate in 4 years???? For those who say i should travel abroad, uk or ireland?? and why?? Thanks!!!

Answer:
This is a no brainer - Go abroad. Talk to the study abroad counselors at your university and see if your host university offers courses related to your major. I don't see how studying abroad can set you back a year since you could still take plenty of general courses to satisfy your general curriculum. But even if it does set you back a year, this is a great opportunity that you may not have in the future...trust me, if you don't go now, you may regret it. There will always be time to study and work. Take advantage of the fact that you are a college student now and travel the world, learn new things, meet new people, develop your skills and grow in a way that you have never done before. Fill out your application and go, don't think twice about it.

Yes, study abroad. It isn't everyday you get an opportunity to do something like that. Germany has wonderful school for biochem. I was there finishing up my major. Very credible schools. Also, it isn't necessary that you speak the language. They offer courses in English as well. Good luck!

i envy you, you've stolen my life, good think i have a couple years till college. my suggestion would be this. go abroad. even though it'll take you back a year or two, the experience will put you forward a couple years. you'll also be more focused and have a different life style. i would go to the UK because i've always wanted to and it's got lots of civilization there. and i think ireland would be too far away from home. good luck witht he bio chem thing. i've love to hear about all of your journey. but i want to deal with biological warfare instead of biochem. send me an email or something and we could talk about it, you could teach me some stuff :) [email protected]

Go abroad..its a great experience and you get to experience the vibrant culture of various groups of people.. Are you limiting your options to UK and Ireland only?
