Does anyone know about studying abroad in Paris?

Does anyone know how you get selected for the studying abroad program People to People? ?

  • Ok so my best friend got a letter in the mail from People to People saying that she was selected to go to France, Italy & Greece next summer. I love learning about new cultures & languages & I was wondering how can I get selected too? Help anyone ? =]

    Thousands of those letters go out every year. They are little better than an advertising scam. The trips are very expensive -- $5,000 - $7,000 +++ usually not including air fare. But they don't tell you that until AFTER you are "accepted" at one of their meetings. Something for you and your friend to consider -- that money would go a long way toward financing an ENTIRE YEAR exchange with an organization such as AFS, YFU or Rotary. That would have many more benefits as well -- including language immersion and preferred admissions and/or scholarships at many universities.

One of your teachers nominates you, or a People to People Alumni nominates you. I myself and a People to People Alumni (I went to France,Germany, Switzerland, and Spain in 2003). You can go on the People to People Student Ambassador website to apply/nominate yourself, or you can just go with your friend to the meeting and get information there.

I went to Washington D.C. last October. I loved it, I'm sure your friend will have a great time, she should defiantly go. Usually a teacher has to recommend you, so maybe you could talk to some of your teachers and see if they know anything about it. Someone has to nominate you. My daughter gets one of those letters every year. One of her best friends went this summer. I think a parent can nominate a child? Usually a teacher nominates though.
