Exchange Student, what do you get out of the experience?

• When being an exchange student what do you expect to get out of the trip? How can you use what you learned in the community when you come back? what qualities do exchange students expect to posses? What are some experiences that could make someone a better candidate for an exchange program?

• Answer:

  Simply put an experience of a lifetime. I expected to have some fun and just chill out for a little bit. Instead I made some of the best friends of my life. I became immersed in a culture more then I thought I could be. I stepped out of my comfort zone and did a million things that I never thought that I would like climbing a mountain, playing sports period, enjoying the outdoors, being more outgoing, and just learning to just have fun in life without so much stress. When you get back to the community you have better understanding for people in life. You have better people skills and are able to put yourself in more situations that will help you change as a person. Qualities for an exchange student to have FLEXIBLE you have to be able to go with the flow and not be stubborn about every little thing. Someone who is more outgoing and has spent time away from home would be better then someone who is homeschooled and is uncomfortable around people. Exchange is probably the best idea ever it helps people so much
