How exactly do you study abroad in Australia if you are from the USA?

Can I study at college in Australia for 2 years and then transfer to USA for another 2?

  • Hi, I am a Scottish student looking to study abroad, i am currently in my 5th year at school and hoping to leave at the end of the school year with a high level of education. I would really like to study abroad after that, I am just wondering if i could study in Australia for my first 2 years, and then transfer to USA to study for my last 2 years? In addition to this I would hopefully try and get a soccer scholarship as I currently play for a SPL club in Scotland, and hopefully a scholarship would help pay for some of the costs, so any information on that will be greatly apprfeciated THANKS :)

  • Answer:

Australian degrees are three years, four if you do honours. If you enrolled in an Australian university you could apply for a student exchange program to the USA for a year, but I'm not sure if that's open to people who are international students already. The other option is to switch universities and countries mid-degree but I suspect you'd loose a lot of course credit in the process. Australia doesn't have any commercial sporting competitions at a university level so we don't really have sports scholarships. There are a couple fo $2000 or so for a year. If you're a foreign student paying full fees you almost might as well not bother.
