Is is a good idea to study abroad for your final college semester?
-
I'm an undergrad at Columbia College Chicago (theatre major), and I was hoping to study abroad sometime during my college stay. But with all my credits from exams I took in high school, I qualify to graduate next May. I missed the deadline for this next coming semester, so I figured I'd try to go for my last semester. But that means I'll be graduating in London (where I'd like to go). This is, of course, assuming my credits will let me do that. I don't have the financial assets to afford another additional semester beyond what I'm required to take, so it's now or never. I'm just concerned it's a bad idea to be abroad when I graduate.

Answer:
sure, i dont see why not. Maybe the change of environment will have a good impact on you. Just make sure it is studing you're doing and not checking out the london scene! (although im sure you can take a night out to see whats hot around the place!)

IT IS NOT A WASTE OF TIME! Seriously, college years are the most important and awesome times of your life. You are not tied down by anything (raising a family, bills, mortgage, etc.). GO SEE THE WORLD! I have friends that have go over to Europe for a year or two and they come back with such a better perspective on life. Don't listen to anyone. It is hard as hell to leave, but IT WILL FRAME THE REST OF YOUR LIFE! Promise. And how will you ever know what would've been if you don't try? Go, and send me a postcard. :-)

I went to a liberal arts school where more than 40% of the students studied abroad while enrolled. I was in the other 60ish percent. Everyone in the group that didn't wished they did. Everyone that did is happy with their decision. I can tell you that oftentimes your life warps at mock speed after graduation, and such opportunities often disappear. It's like Ferris Bueller said..."Life moves pretty quick. If you don't stop and take a look around every once in a while, you might miss it." I don't know how graduating while abroad could be "inconvenient," but I would encourage you to go abroad if you have the chance.
