What field of study to major in?

What to study; field study?! PLEASE HELP!?

  • I'm a Junior in high school. I am in Bio. II. This year we are required to study a plot of land, 90 ft., and record general observations over a 3 month period. We are ALSO required to develop and test a scientific procedure. For example...what kinds of organisms are in the soil? Or something like that. Any ideas of what I could test on the land? I live in the mid-west so the area is very forestry. The area I am testing is actually in a forest, close to a lake, but not directly on it. There are many different types of trees there and the soil (i think) is somewhat sandy. The seasons will be changing soon to fall and then to winter, snowy. PLEASE HELP!? Have any of you done a similar field study on a plot of land and had success? I'll take any suggestions, as long as it is reasonable to complete! THANKS!! :)

  • Answer:

take soils from different parts of land. - 4 corners, couple of middle parts. u may take different depths of earth. top soil. one feet below. label them properly with location, date taken. color code it divide 3 months into equal weeks and sample them every few weeks. can u sent to lab for testing? if not, observe color, change, any organism or insects. record any changes u observe. more leaves, more compost/decay. to further excel check www.virtuesproject.com
