Studying in Germany Resources in these sections allow students to learn more about the educational opportunities in Germany. Internship Announcement The International Parliamentary Internship Program (IPP) is a fully-funded fellowship that introduces young, politically-minded American college and university graduates to the German system of government. Participants attend a series of seminars organized by the German political parties' foundations; complete a 15-week internship in the office of a member of the German Parliament (Bundestag); and are also given the opportunity to take courses at Humboldt University in Berlin, the Free University of Berlin, or the Technical University of Berlin. The program runs from March 1 to July 31, 2007. It is managed by the German Parliament and administered by the Office of Foreign Exchange Programs (Akademisches Auslandsamt) at Humboldt University, in cooperation with the Free University of Berlin and the Technical University of Berlin. The application deadline has been extended until June 30, 2006. Candidates from the U.S. must: - be American citizens, - hold at least a Bachelor of Arts degree by the start of the program, - demonstrate excellent German language skills, - show interest in a career in government or public life in their home country (media, political parties, nongovernmental or nonprofit organizations, academia), - be under the age of 30 at the start of the program. The IPP program provides the following support to participants: a monthly stipend of approximately € 450, housing in Berlin university dormitories or a grant of € 250 towards rental costs, health insurance, paid student fees, and provision of a residency visa. Costs for travel to and from Berlin will be reimbursed. After a pre-screening on the merits of the application, the candidates will be invited to an interview in the U.S. The interviews will take place in fall 2006 at locations on the East and West Coasts and in the Midwest. Complete program information and application requirements and materials can be found on the German Bundestag's website at: www.bundestag.de/dialog/ipp. Additional information about the IPP is also available at: www.abinonline.org.

I studied there a few years ago and have returned many times... Marburg has a huge student population because of the large Philipps University there. Also, Heidelberg is a city with a hugely popular (for American students) university. Try the following links for more info on each program. Also, try local universities' websites because they probably have ways to contact current/past students who have studied abroad

Contact your local Rotary Club. They sponsor both High School Students that study abroad and teams of professionals that travel to other countries. I'm unaware of any program for universities but they should have contacts that could help you.
