When should I get my study guide for driver's permit?

What are the main things to study for when I get my learner permit?

  • I'm 15 (I'll actually be 16 in April) and I have put off getting my permit for months! I guess because I'm just nervous I suppose. And yes, I do know I have to hold my permit for 6 months before I can get my actual drivers license. I started studying a little right when I turned 15, but didn't cover everything. Now I want to go over everything again. What would you say the MAIN things I need to know and study are? I'm pretty good with knowing all the signs, but blah with everything else. I do have a study guide by the way. I'm just looking for answers from people who have taken it, and know from experience. I live in the state of Tennessee by the way. And if you could link me to a site to take a practice test that'd be great :D Thanks!

  • Answer:

There is no practice test. All of the answers are in the study guide and the driver's license handbook. You need to read it all the way through, then read it again. Then have someone quiz you on it. Then read it again the day before you go for your test. There are no shortcuts in getting your permit or license. Your life and the lives of those around you depend on your knowing what is in those books.
