when reading something, I've always heard that skimming it over once and then reading it thoroughly works pretty well. and for taking notes, it depends on what the material is, for math and science material, its best to be thorough, cause missing one small piece can throw you completely off. and for things like history or literature, simple, well organized notes are my game plan, try catching the key words and key topics and right down a few things about it and move on to the next subject.

According the very recent research the best way is to study for no longer than 40 minutes at a time as the human attention span depletes after 40 minutes and while you think you're taking the information in, the chances are... you won't be. Experts say that studying on the eve of an exam for 20 minutes, then taking a 5 minute break then studying for a further 20 minutes then refreshing for 20 min on the day of the exam is the most beneficial way to revise/study.
Och Aye The Noo!
1.Well you have to be in a place with no interuptions. Thats quiet. 2.I dont really read over them loads, i read it like once or twice then i say it to myself, make sense of it and then explain it to myself or say it to myself without looking. 3.When i have say one page studied , i make a test for myself on all of it, like a teachers test. 4.No! Always simple your notes, theres no need to make them very detailed. 5.The next time I go to study i revise all the stuff i did last time, or go over the test that i made for myself last time and continue to do that each time. 6.I study for no more than an hour and then have at most a 15 minute break because then you get tired or too relaxed to go back to studying. And do something where your not thinking of studying at all. Good Luck. (:
