How to apply to a medical school in England?

• I am high school student from USA entering senior year. I am looking at colleges in England. I want to become a doctor, but I don't know how the education system is there with medicine. I would like to know how it is, and I want know how to apply for the college and how college life is there for them. For example, here in US we go to 4 years of undergrad and 4 years of med school and the residency and fellowship. How is it over there? What is the usual cost? Any other info is also great.

  I'm from Ireland, and I applied to a number of places to study medicine in the UK last year, so I know how the system works. First step, go to www.ucas.co.uk and register. Follow all the steps, and you're then set to apply to up to 4 medicine courses. You can choose any 4 in the UK (that's England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). You need to write a personal statement and also, sit an aptitude test (called the UKCAT). You may also need to attend an interview in the particular university. The system there works that, if you do get into a medicine course, you study for 5 years. You don't need any undergrad degree to get in. Then, you do one year called an 'intern' year, and then you're entitled to register as a doctor. If you want to go back to the US, you'll have to pass an exam over there to be allowed practice medicine. I'm sorry, but I don't know how much the cost is. I was an 'EU' student, and it was about 4,000 Pounds Sterling a year, but I know that it's more for US students. I'm not certain how much, though, sorry. I hope all this helps, and good luck!
