Similar programs to the Peace Corp?

Are there any non profit traveling abroad programs that wont cost me money?

• I have been all over the internet looking for volunteer abroad programs and maybe learn something from the experience. But every time I go to the website that I select they want me to pay an outrageous price to volunteer for free. Then I am out a thousand some dollars and only get two weeks at this country of where ever, with the risk of me getting something and possibly getting hurt. I understand that may a reason they want me to pay but I know what I am getting into and I am ok with that. I already applied for the peace corp but the 2 year season doesn't start until october. I just want a legit non profit organization that needs help somewhere in the world can anyone help? I would be very appreciative to your responses

  No organization will pay your way to travel. Even Peace Corps costs US taxpayers about $40k for each volunteer, so it's by no means free. Those costs you're referring to go to a good cause. The organizations which organize the trips, like Cross-Cultural Solutions or Global Volunteers, pay for many things such as in-country travel, food, housing, safety, programming fees, cultural lessons and local staff. You also have the peace of mind that you're volunteering with a legit agency. That costs money.
