Being a foreign exchange student without going through a program?
-
I'm a current American freshman in high school, and I am interested in becoming a foreign exchange student in England, but without going through a program. My father knows people in England who could possibly care for me in a year-long stay abroad. What kinds of steps would I have to take to successfully go through with setting up an abroad stay? Are there any prerequisites I would need? Thanks!

Answer:
It's not likely that you could register for a school there without some sort of "program" sponsorship. Most schools, everywhere, are supported by public funding and they are not "in the business" of educating children of parents who do not pay into the public coffers.
