How long do I study to become a nurse?

How many years of study is there to become a nurse?

  • Im interested in being a midwife when I am older, and was wondering how many years of study will I need to do to become a nurse? Thanks :)

  • Answer:

If you plan on taking the nursing road to becoming a midwife, first you have to get your BSN, which takes 4 years. Then you have to go to grad school for your CNM (certified nurse midwife). Most grad schools require 1 year of RN experience before they let you in. These programs take from 1.5 to 3 years (most taking 2). So from start to finish that's about 7 years. Or you can become a "lay midwife". This means another local laymidwife takes you in and trains you. I think they can only work in homes or birthing centers, not hospitals. I don't know how long it takes to be a lay midwife, but not 7 years.

Usually takes 4 years. Good luck

You can become an RN in 2 or 4 years, depending on if you want an ADN (associates) or BSN (bachelors). There isn't much difference in the end, unless you want any type of managerial position - most of those will require a BSN.

It takes only two years of college to be a RN with an associates degree in nursing. Bachelors degree takes 4 years.

It depends on where you live. In the US you can get an associates degree in 2 years. In Canada you have to take the 4 year BSN.

To be a Registered Nurse, it's 4 years. For LPN (Licensed Practicing Nurse?), it's 2-3 (not sure which).
