Do you have to study at College to study abroad?

Wanting to Study Abroad for College?

  • Alright, so I have somewhat of an internal dilemma. I'm going to be a Junior in high school this coming year, and I've been looking at colleges lately. I am taking mostly Accelerated/AP courses this next year, I am in LOVE with French (I'm taking French 3 next year), and I've been in the school's Regional Occupations Program for Culinary since Freshman year (and still plan to continue it till Senior year) Now, I have *always* wanted to study abroad for college particularly in Europe. (France or London, maybe?) I would really like to stick to my goal of studying abroad, but my biggest problem is my soon-to-be major. I want to major in Pastry Arts or Business. I've always wanted to eventually own my own pastry shop. I do specialty cakes right now. (Check me out at www.cakespaz.com <-- my own site!) ANYWAY. Haha. I live in the Bay Area in California. I'm planning to start college at San Francisco City College and then finishing up at SF State. SO, with all that information, could someone help me out and point me in the right direction here? Maybe give me a link or two about studying abroad and what I need to do, knowing my major/goal-in-life? Hahaha. Really any information is helpful. Thanks!! :)

  • Answer:

Aw thats so cute that you want to own your own pastry shop! Kudos to you :) I want to study abroad too, so i've already done a lot of research on it. Studying abroad is basically there to give you "international experience" for your choice of career. You shouldn't really study abroad unless it provides something that you can benefit from later in your life. LUCKY FOR YOU, business and culinary arts are great reasons to study abroad :) By going to Europe (or wherever) you can see different bake shops, learn different cooking techniques, learn from international bakers etc. One thing to remember is.. studying abroad does cost money.. like everything else in the world -_-. If I were you, try researching study abroad opportunities at your top college/university choices, and see what they can offer you. GOOD LUCK! :D
