What do unsuccessful academics do?

What did you learn in your college experience other than academics?

  • What did you learn that was significant and impacted your life? Note that it excludes education and academics. Thanks!

  • Answer:

To be more self-sufficient and self-reliant. How to negotiate/get along with roommates. To be more self-diciplined and to be a "self-starter." How to balance work, study, and social life without letting any of them suffer too severely (sometimes I succeeded and sometimes I didn't--but I learned from it so that I can balance things now). About the importance of getting enough sleep/taking care of my health, because Mom wasn't around to see the problem and call the shots. How to take the consequences of my own actions when I screwed up and there was no-one to blame but myself. How to put up with people I didn't like, and even put my personal feelings about that aside, so I could learn from them.
