-
So, i'm interested in studying abroad (I'm thinking of USA or Australia). But the thing is, everyone here (In Europe - slovenia) keeps saying me that i should consider more ''real'' options or something like that. But the thing is i really really want to study abroad. I don't like my country and there aren't even enough opportunities for a jobs an things like that. And also i love adventures, learning different cultures, meeting new people. And then there's a problem. It's not that we're rich or anything and If i wanted to go abroad i would probably need a lot of money and stuff. Everyone keeps saying , oh keep dreaming, oh come on come to your senses etc. The truth is i can't aaffordstudying abroad. I know there are sscholarshipsand stuff but nobody here tells me anything specific. So I am kind of lost. Nobody believes that i really want to do that. I know that's not simple and all but I am ssuccessfulstudent, I have high grades( most of them A-s)... So my question is, what are my cchances what should i do, where to go first. And if it helps, I'm sophomore at high school, well in 2 months I will be junior. I know I'm still young but I don't want to blew my chances . if I have any. So can you please help me ? :)

Answer:
For United States- 1.You will need to give the SAT By College Board(undergraduate). For a top university (and a scholarship) you need to ace these exams if u r thinking for a scholarship.Scholarships are very hard to get and never in any way cover the whole fees.Your scholarship = College Fees - EFC(Expected Family Contribution). If you cant afford to pay at all you cannot go there.Getting good marks on the SAT's is again very tough and a lot of hard work. There are loads of books available in the market to help you. 2.Fees-Without scholarships the fees for a good university including hostel is a MINIMUM of $45,000 an year,And the approximate investment for four year becomes easily around $160,000 to $200,000(Rs.1 Crore).School grades of Junior and sophomore years are to be filled in college application. You can get information about SAT,Colleges,Fees and everything at - sat.collegeboard.org.. Research it if u want to get anything. 3.You will also need to demonstrate proficiency in English and for that u will need to give the toefl test.It is easier than SAT but requires you to Speak,Listen,Read and write all. ets.org/toefl P.S-Giving these tests itself is very expensive and u will have to give them atleast twice each!to get a good score.{SAT-$99 Toefl-$140} Even filling up college application forms is expensive it ranges from $70 to $110 per application. You can learn all this on the College Board website.

SAT tests are as simple as they can be. Comparing to matura exams in Slovenia: Verbal section of SAT's is something like higher lever of matura exam at english. http://www.eduers.com/sat/SAT_Verbal.pdf Math section can't get any more simple: http://www.eduers.com/sat/SAT_Math.pdf TOEFL exams aren't difficult either.

Many colleges have the study abroad option, and its operated through the college. Start by getting accepted into a college that has one of those programs. Call the director / counselor of those programs and ask them more detailed questions.

there is very little in the way of financial aid or scholarships to international students from US schools. Another option for you is to do a study aboard program from your college/university to an US school for a semster. Realize that coming to the US, you will be on a student visa and must leave as soon as your classes are over. You can not work here on a student visa. You can go on any US school's web site to find out international student requirements, how to apply, an online application, some financial aid and student visa info, tuition and room and board costs. plan on $30,000 per year
