Regardless of which company you choose for your study abroad experience, if you haven't done so yet be sure to speak with your guidance counselor to figure out how spending time in Australia will affect your graduation requirements and timing. You may need to allow for curriculum differences by moving core courses (like US History) to other semesters when you'll be at home. You should also ask if your school will grant international transfer credit, and if so, how they will convert your grades. Ayusa's program advisors will happily guide you through these conversations. Comparing exchange programs is a wise strategy when planning something as involved as cultural exchange. Be sure that your search criteria require any company you consider to be fully listed with the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel. CSIET is the accreditation agency for the youth exchange industry and routinely audits exchange programs to ensure that they are maintain high standards for student safety and support.
