Best high school study abroad program?
-
I would love to study in Sydney, Australia for my sophomore year of high school. I haven't decided if i would want to do a semester, trimester, or full year yet. I have been doing a ton of research and was wondering what your thoughts or reviews are? I was thinking of going with AYUSA but then i heard some bad things so i want to make sure I will be safe and does anyone recommend any programs they went through? thanks(:

It's so exciting that you're considering studying abroad in Australia! Australia is an amazing country and we have a number of very satisfied student alumni - in fact, if you contact one of Ayusa's program advisors at 1-800-579-1709 or [email protected], we can put you in touch with some of our alumni and parents directly. Our program advisors can also answer any questions you may have about our programs, or about preparing to study abroad in general. Regardless of which company you choose for your study abroad experience, if you haven't done so yet be sure to speak with your guidance counselor to figure out how spending time in Australia will affect your graduation requirements and timing. You may need to allow for curriculum differences by moving core courses (like US History) to other semesters when you'll be at home. You should also ask if your school will grant international transfer credit, and if so, how they will convert your grades. Ayusa's program advisors will happily guide you through these conversations. Comparing exchange programs is a wise strategy when planning something as involved as cultural exchange. Be sure that your search criteria require any company you consider to be fully listed with the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel. CSIET is the accreditation agency for the youth exchange industry and routinely audits exchange programs to ensure that they are maintain high standards for student safety and support. Not only is Ayusa one of the exchange organizations that founded the council, we have also been fully listed with them for over 25 years. Good luck with your search. We hope that you choose Ayusa, but regardless of which company you select, be sure to have a safe and wonderful time in Australia!
