Without your parents moaning...whats the minimum age to go abroad alone?
-
I know legally at 15 you can alone but I'm talking about this concept: I'm turning 16 soon and for YEARS I have badly wanted to go to japan. I'm thinking at 16 to go to japan alone in the holidays. *I'll be paying for my self* That or 18 (but 18 is yearsssss away!!!) !! And my parents (when I asked if we can go in July *I asked in may*) and they said no cos of radio-activity....and they say even in 20years no! But at 16 do you think (in your opinion) go alone *I have loads of friends I'll stay with *or stay at a hotel)

Answer:
i would say 18 if your going there alone, as in completely on your own and 16-17 if your travelling with friends you've always got to be very careful though

18. Before then you are a child and they don't have to let you go at all.

16 sounds fair enough if you're paying your own way.

I was 14 when I first went abroad on my own. I was visiting a friend, though. But, in my opinion, 16 is old enough to survive unless you do something stupid, and after that sort of age, it will be too late to properly absorb / experience / observe hugely different culture, because your view will be biased due to stereotypes / knowledge you acquire as you get older and older. Especially if you're off to a very safe place like Japan (and do trust me, it is a safe place to visit, as I'm originally from Japan!), you'll be ok. I suppose you're in an exactly opposite situation to me in the past. When I was 16, I just couldn't stop myself and decided to go to a 6th form in England:) I was such an adventurous and curious boy back then. And do you know what? Although I had literally the worst time of my life while at the school, I learnt so much from the experience, and I still love England, which is why I am still here in England today:)

no, i would not go before 19
dia do do
16 is fine. In other countries, students often travel alone or in groups at that age. Japan is a very safe country- and the risk of exposure to radioactivity will be gone by the time you go there. It may be hard to convince your parents of that, though. You'll have to find some statistics.
