Studying abroad (UK, US, Singapore) coming from India?
-
I'm currently in the 10th Standard in an ICSE school in India. I am looking for information about studying abroad. Currently my options would be the UK, US or Singapore; and I'm mostly looking at going to London. (Or could anyone suggest any other options?). My only language is English and I'm sure language isn't a problem. The question is, the only information I can find is that under-graduate Universities take you on a High-School Leaving Certificate from India (i.e. after the 12th Standard in India). My primary interest is computers/science/engineering. In India choosing from Commerce, Arts or Science is easy for me -- Science. My questions are: 1. What if I want to study abroad after completing my 10th Standard boards? At what grade/level will I be in the UK, and what is there for me to do before University, and what will I have to choose? What are the schools/colleges available? The London websites offer a lot of information for students going to University, but not for students coming out of Secondary (10th) school in India. 2. What are the costs, for living in the UK? I am also thinking of a shared apartment with a friend of mine, how much would that be? What is the average monthly cost on food, electricity, water, and other common necessities and commodities? 3. What are the cost of the universities or schools for international students? If I'm only 16 after the 10th Standard boards, are there any difficulties in studying abroad? 4. What about scholarships? For one, if I wait until after the 12th Standard boards, I can easily apply for a scholarship as the 10th, 11th and 12th standard marks will be considered. However if after the 10th, my 8th and 9th standard marks are around 80% right now, though I am aiming for above 90% (which I believe I can score) for my boards. ICSE makes it difficult to score a lot as our school trains us for the boards and papers are set extra-difficult. ... Money is not an issue, if I cannot get a scholarship, my parents will bare the costs, but you probably understand that I would love to get the money on my own. Any other feedback and information is appreciated :)

As a minor you would not be able to live alone, you would need to bring a parent or guardian with you. 3. Universities can cost 10,000-25,000 pounds per year for international students. I don't know how much school would be. Yes there are difficulties see ques. 2 4. I'm unaware of any scholarships for international students to study in 6th forms or colleges. There are few available for international students in university, they are not worth much

1.In the US: college and university are the same thing. You must have your high school diploma or A levels to apply to an US school. You can go on any US school's web site to see international student requirements. 2. Most US schools require all freshman to live in dorms. your costs would be under room and board. room and board will cover you dining plan to eat. your dorm room, which will cover all utilities, internet and cable. 3.US schools are going to cost you $30,000 to $50,000 US dollars per year. books, travel and personal expenses are going to be more 4. you are NOT going to find a scholarship to pay for everything. there are very few scholarships offered to international students from US schools. even if you got one it will only pay for a fraction of the costs. In the US a Bachelor degree takes four years to complete, not 3.
